We left Mequiñenza on Monday morning, as fishing was restricted to between 1p.m. and 11 p.m. and it was slightly too hot, and headed for Andorra, where we spent just one day at Camping Valira and enjoyed a spot of shopping, making the most of this tax-free haven.
The campsite was good and we had plenty of shade on our pitch, even though this was a bit tight for space, but we had wonderful views of the mountains and enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool and a relaxing session in the jacuzzi.
Yesterday morning, we made our way back to France and, after trying the motorhome aire at Ax-Les-Thermes and finding it unsuitable, being as it was on the main road and consequently very noisy, we carried on a little further north to Les Cabannes aire, which was absolutely wonderful, away from the main road and, again, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. It also had 2 very clean toilets and basins, one for the disabled, and only cost €4 a night. We will certainly come back here again.
This morning, we only drove a short distance to Montgéard and Camping du Lac de la Thésauque, south of Toulouse. This site is lovely, with shady and spacious pitches and it also has a welcome cool pool, as well as the lake a couple of minutes’ walk, but this is very busy at the moment with lots of young families and teenagers playing on the inflatable climbing walls and pedalos, therefore we are sticking to the swimming pool, which was completely empty just now.
We are planning to go to Albi tomorrow and visit the Gothic brick cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec’s museum.
